I had the opportunity – for the second time – to meet with a group of women engineers at General Electric’s Advanced Engineering Center (GEIQ) in the state of Queretaro in Mexico. The GEIQ is the largest global engineering center for GE Aviation, these amazingly bright engineers develop design solutions for the turbine engines used by several international commercial carriers around the globe.
At our first gathering in December 2015, we talked about our careers in GE and how to navigate inside the organization. At our second meeting, we had an open exchange and shared perspectives about the challenges we face in our professional careers, especially when life as a woman (with its several aspects of our feminine identity) are present in the mix of our daily lives.
As we went deeper in the assessment of these challenges through a WDignity’s Workshop, each participant identified – at a personal level – areas of opportunity to focus on for personal growth and then, in teams, shared those that could be done in partnership with the business.
The WDignity Workshops are excellent tools for women to unlock their true potential and for corporations to enable it through the combined efforts of a personal and a corporate plan.
GE is a great company and truly cares about its employees, these courageous women are focused on their personal development and growth: Congratulations!
