Courageous women who dare to think beyond their immediate reality to explore what might be ahead of them in their paths through life, are an inspiration to those who follow them. Recently, I had the opportunity to lead several half-a-day sessions of our workshop “Unlock your true potential, seek and choose balance” in Mexico. The participants were various groups of General Electric’s (GE) women employees in Monterrey and Mexico City.
What an amazing experience! These women stepped outside of their day-to-day dynamics (job, family, schedule, deliverables, challenges, etc.) to join our workshop and took the time to THINK what might be ahead on their lives.
How often do you give yourself “permission” to think about you and what might come next in your life? They allowed themselves to be inspired by the vision of their true potential and explored where they would like to go next. Our focus was on the professional front, but the assessment tool used allows the participant to think beyond and combine other elements of life which at times are threatening life balance. We used our WDignity’s Balance Model diagnosis tool to: (a) guide their assessment and visualization of potential, (b) consider immediate next steps to engage in their near future’s personal development and (c) envision a big picture perspective to set broad guidelines of a career roadmap.
Admirable forward-looking corporations like GE, value their diverse talent beyond the ordinary – in this case, specifically women: They take the time to embrace and develop their talent pool, place the resources (like this workshop) to help these women thrive, promote a corporate culture that enables female employees think about themselves and how the company can be a “companion” (an enabler, a partner) in their career advancement and personal growth (as professionals and individuals).
The output was powerful: Each participant developed an individual-personal action plan and shared ideas for collective feedback on how corporate support by GE Mexico could be provided to enable these women employees evolve further in the organization.
Thank you GE Women’s Network Leadership Team for your commitment and drive to take a stand towards creating a better community for the greater good of all employees in the organization, especially women!
