As a woman engineer myself - with deep passion for the arts, I am always interested in initiatives or projects where appreciation for science, technology, engineering, arts and math is part of the effort, particularly for women. When I attended engineering school, it was just a handful of us women students – no women teachers and upon graduation, the possibilities for jobs in the field for women engineers, were extremely limited.

Women in the workplace and the 'other' aspects of our lives

A couple of months ago, I had the pleasure of giving a talk to 100+ executive women at the beautiful Hacienda de los Morales in Mexico City. We had a candid discussion about realities that women face in the workplace and the challenges we face as we progress in the various organizations where we work at. We also talked about “other” topics – many times silent in these type of events: our realities as mothers, wives, single women with personal interests and life dynamics outside of the content of the workplace; all of those “other” things that make us the women we are.
