Impactful STEAM project with girls in Mexico …

As a woman engineer myself - with deep passion for the arts, I am always interested in initiatives or projects where appreciation for science, technology, engineering, arts and math is part of the effort, particularly for women. When I attended engineering school, it was just a handful of us women students – no women teachers and upon graduation, the possibilities for jobs in the field for women engineers, were extremely limited.

I was honored to be invited – and very glad to have attended - the parallel event at UN Women’s CSW62. An energy-filled inspiring panel moderated by AXIOS describing the project sponsored in Mexico by ALPES Institute and INTEL, where a “Makers Center” for girls interested in science, technology, engineering, arts and math has been created. It is up and running!

It is my impression that this initiative is fostering some of the new inventors, designers and engineers of the upcoming generation in Mexico … They are already developing, creating, imagining a better future that can be thought of NOW!
